Priory School, Suffolk, England
Greetings from Mr A. Haryluck, KS2 & KS3 Humanities Coordinator at Priory School :
The Year 9 Humanities class has come to the end of a fascinating 10-week learning process that has seen the students begin with the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World, and conclude with their 7 New Wonders of the World!
The level of both their work and enthusiasm throughout this project has been nothing less then exceptional.
During the teaching and learning process, we have used the New Seven Wonders Site (http://www.new7wonders.com/) as an inspiration and a guide to further exploration and research in finally determining which of the new 7 wonders we would like to nominate.
This included in depth teaching via an interactive whiteboard to show the students PowerPoint lessons and internet links which gave the students an opportunity to then put together their own PowerPoint presentations.
Through a very thorough and colourful balloting process, each student (along with the teacher and teaching assistant) voted for 7 of the 21 candidates.
This was narrowed down to the final 9 (the first 5 were voted through, leaving a 4-way tie for the last 2 places).
Another lesson was then presented on each of the final 4 candidates, leading to one last ballot- - giving us our 7 nominees.
The year 9 class tell their story in words and pictures with Photo Story 3 for Windows.
I hope you enjoy their work...I am very proud of their accomplishments.
We all had great fun during these past 10 weeks, and learned quite a bit as well!
We will be posting more information and pictures in due course.
